500g Green Chana

Sourced from the fertile agricultural regions of India, Schani Green Chana consists of whole dried green chickpeas, characterized by their deep olive hue and smooth, firm outer skin. These pulses are harvested at peak maturity and naturally dried to preserve their integrity, resulting in a dense physical profile that holds its shape exceptionally well during prolonged cooking. Upon preparation, they release a subtle, earthy aroma reminiscent of fresh fields, which transitions into a robust, nutty flavor profile with a slightly sweet undertone. The texture is notably substantial, offering a satisfyingly tender yet resilient bite that adds body and depth to various culinary preparations without becoming overly soft.

A staple in traditional South Asian pantries, these green chickpeas are highly valued for their versatility across diverse menus. They can be utilized as a foundational component in thick stews, tempered with aromatic spices for savory side dishes, or even parboiled and tossed into vibrant salads to provide a contrasting texture. Their ability to absorb the complex flavors of masalas and seasonings makes them an excellent choice for slow-cooked recipes.
Culinary Application involves soaking the whole green chana overnight to soften the outer hull before boiling until tender, making them perfect for hearty curries, grain bowls, or as a textured addition to vegetable-based soups and broths.
